Atlantic Canada at the Olympics

Where’s the Halifax & Atlantic Canadian connection? I was at Molson Canada Hockey House for the Men’s Slovakia/Norway and Czech Republic/Latvia games on Tuesday night and cheering on Canada as they defeated Russia last night. At the end of the games each night we were treated to live Canadian entertainment.  Tuesday was Montreal’s Sam Roberts.  Sam was joined on stage by a dancing Shaun Majumber, (Nfld’er and comedian from This Hour has 22 Minutes).  Last night the fun continued with Great Big Sea performing their hits peppered with a few new numbers.  Both nights ended with Halifax’s own DJ Scratch Bastid – and ‘kickin’ it old school’ til the wee hours of the morning.

Atlantic Canada house on Granville Island has had line-ups around the block all week.  The food sampling of Atlantic Canadian cuisine and live bands such as Dave Gunning (NS), In Flight Safety (PEI) and Hey Rosetta (NL) have been very popular.  Now that Heather Moyse (from Summerside, PEI) has won gold in the two women bobsleigh there will be even more excitement at Atlantic Canada House!

Body painted fans at Hockey House!

It was great to be in the crowd, especially watching Canada and Sidney Crosby (from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) win the game yesterday…now we have the Canadian women to watch as they take on the US in the gold medal game this afternoon!
